Day 2: Birds

Words

Introduce yourself to your bird identification tools, both the visual and song field guides, and the Merlin app from Cornell. Learn some of the major groups of birds and their distinguishing features.

Today we’ll spend time on a couple of audio nature programs focusing on a couple of iconic kinds of birds.

Audio: “Chicken (BBC Natural Histories)” (27:55)

Audio: “Nick Davies on Cuckoos (BBC Life Scientific)” (35:32)

Works

Needless to say, this would be a good day to look for feathered friends. Birds are among the most easily spotted and heard vertebrates. No wonder they are a favorite among naturalists.
